Western Washington University’s College of Fine and Performing Arts, in partnership with the Bellingham Festival of Music, has announced a weeklong Choral Arts Institute for music educators, choral directors, voice conductors and students July 16-21 on WWU’s campus.
Choral Arts Institute aims to help choral directors, music educators and voice conductors to increase their knowledge and abilities in their field.
Choral Arts Institute is instructed by Maestro Vance George, the chorus director emeritus of the San Francisco Symphony, and Maestro Michael Palmer, artistic director of the Bellingham Festival of Music.
Choral Arts Institute participants will spend six days of intense study of vocal and conducting techniques using Mozart’s Mass in C Minor. A final culminating performance of the Mass will be held with Bellingham Festival of Music on July 21.
“I am very excited to be working with Maestro Palmer to build upon our long standing relationship with the Bellingham Festival of Music in bringing this new opportunity to the region,” said Daniel Guyette, dean of Western Washington University’s College of Fine and Performing Arts.

Bellingham Weddings - Choosing the Right Date

Congratulations on your engagement! Now the fun is about to start. If you are newly engaged you may be feeling overwhelmed by the thought of planning a Bellingham wedding. Never fear, brides! We, your Bellingham limo experts, are here, along with a host of other trained professionals, to help you through the process.

One of the first decisions you have to make is the date of the wedding. This is a complicated decision and the choice you make will influence many other aspects of the wedding. Of course, a bridal couple has to work around their schedule. Work, vacation time and other family commitments can greatly influence the decision. The schedule of important people in their lives, such as parents, grandparents, extended family members, and friends should also be considered.

The choice of date will greatly influence the colors of the wedding. A winter bride might want to embrace the season with a Christmas theme or a silver, white and icy blue color scheme. A spring bride might want to have pastel colors or go for a vibrant garden theme. Summer couples might decide to go with warm citrus colors of the season or a beach theme. Fall weddings will lend themselves to a palette of golds, reds and oranges.

The date of the event will also have an influence on the venue. If you have your heart set on a specific venue, you will have to check on the availability before you set the date. A popular venue will book-up quickly, so be sure to start the process early.

Additionally, the wedding budget will also be effected by the date of the wedding. According to Apply Wed, the Top 5 Most Popular Wedding Dates for 2012, based on their data of over 300 responses are:
  • July 14
  • August 11
  • August 18
  • July 28
  • August 25
If you choose one of these dates, or another popular day, you are likely to be paying a premium price on the venue and all the services and vendors you will be hiring.

Consider getting married on a Sunday or a Friday. It's likely that there will be fewer couples trying to book your venue on those days.

Valentine's Day

Uh-oh...............

All your favorite restaurants are book on Valentine's Day?

Roses are expensive?

Limos have all been reserved by those thinking-ahead type people?

What now?

How about celebrating a day or two before or after Valentine's Day. Feel it out with your sweetie before assuming that she's okay with it, but then consider saving yourself a bundle of money by celebrating on a day before or after the holiday.
